01 - 4 slices sourdough bread
02 - 4 oz Brie cheese, sliced
03 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

04 - 2 tbsp fig preserves
05 - 1 cup fresh arugula

→ Optional (for serving)

06 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Spread one side of each bread slice with softened butter.
02 - Place two slices of bread butter-side down on a clean surface. Spread 1 tablespoon of fig preserves evenly over each slice.
03 - Layer sliced Brie evenly over fig preserves, then top with a generous handful of fresh arugula.
04 - Cover each with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
05 - Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
06 - Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden brown and cheese has melted.
07 - Remove sandwiches from heat and let rest for 1 minute. Slice and serve, topping with freshly ground black pepper if desired.
